Google surprised us this year with their new device lineup, and not just one but four new devices. Among all the new upgrades, Google unveiled their most flagship device, which is the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
This year, with the new fold from Google, they did not only upgraded with performance, that would be too easy. But instead of just a performance boost, you get a new AI boost, upgraded photo editing capability and a brand new design all around.
In today’s review about the Google Pixel 9 Pro fold, we will find out how Google makes the user’s excited with their flagship foldable. Without further ado, let’s jump right into today’s discussions about this amazing device.
Table of Contents:
1. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Key Features
Pixel 9 Pro Fold: KEY FEATURES |
🔸Really thin and elegant looking design which fits easily in pockets; |
🔸Larger crisp quality Super Actua Flex display to enjoy content; |
🔸Stunning photography with Gemini’s powerful editing; |
🔸Excellent performance from Pixel’s most advanced chip. |
2. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Pros & Cons
Before jumping into the overall Pixel 9 Pro Fold, here’s a quick heads up about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s good and bad sides:
Pros: | Cons: |
Amazing movie watching experience; | Too large cover screen can get difficult to use in one hand; |
Multiple app opens quickly to stay productive; | Less battery than last year. |
Beautiful sound from the quality speakers; | |
Stunning slim profile makes it a premium fashion item. |
3. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Design & Build
You will be amazed to know about the design changes Google did to bring this new Pixel 9 Pro fold in the market. Some key features are down below:
Design |
☑️ Silky matte finish; ☑️ Redesigned camera bar at back; ☑️ Super slim design. |

Except that awesome matte finish at the back, the Pixel 9 Pro fold looks and feels premium on your hand. From top to bottom there’s the touch of elegance, so whenever you are holding the device you get an awesome experience. Camera on the rear of the device is reshaped from bar to squarish cutout. Instead of the big bezel when unfolded, the bezel is minimized for a more immersive experience.
The overall curved edges of the device are turned to a little boxer design just like the Samsung folds. Even the middle hinge is upgraded to more of a less hook style, thankfully now it looks more normal now, instead of last year’s scary format.
Build |
☑️ Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass cover; ☑️ Multi-alloy Steel & aluminum alloy cover; ☑️ IPX8 water resistance. |
As for the build quality, you get upgrades from last year’s Pixel fold. There’s a new Gorilla glass 2 for protecting the cover screen. Although the unfolded plastic is there obviously, as foldables are still reliable on unfolded plastic. Water resistance is just like last year, you get IPX8 water resistance to keep it safe from accidental splashes.
While checking out this gorgeous 9 pro fold, we noticed how Google changed the middle hinge, and I guess the designers need an appreciation for using aerospace-grade high-strength aluminum alloy cover. There’s also multi-alloy steel material used to make the full hinge possible into this beautiful folding mechanism.
One of the key changes Google made is the slimmer profile and more of a lightweight build. You get a 5.1mm thin body now when unfolded instead of 5.8 seen on last Pixel fold. Even the overall weight of the Pixel 9 pro fold is minimized from 283 grams to 257 grams, making it around 25 grams lighter compared to last year’s model. This very change makes a huge comeback from Google in the flagship foldables market.
4. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Display
Here’s come the portion where you will enjoy the total:
Display |
☑️ 8-inch (Unfolded), 6.3-inch (Cover) Display; ☑️ LTPO OLED; ☑️ 2700 Nits Peak Brightness. |

Moving on to the display section, the Pixel 9 Pro fold not only comes with new design changes, but also a greater screen as well. As just the moment you unfold the device, you immediately dive into the wonder of the 8-inch Super Actua display.
Now, this is no ordinary change, no I mean literally you get a major screen-to-body ratio change. From 82.7% to an enormous 89% screen-to-body ratio with the newer Pixel 9 Pro fold. Making the content consumption and movie watching more immersive than ever.
As for the cover screen, it is now 6.3-inches, which is around .5-inches higher compared to last year’s 5.8-inch small cover screen. And, I am not gonna lie but I liked that mini cover screen, due to its compact touch features. Although the new cover is big and immersive with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, still last year’s cover screen was way better in terms of one hand operation.
You also got changes in brightness as well, from last year’s 1550 peak brightness to this year’s 2700 nits, making it around 80% brighter compared to previous Pixel fold. So viewing angle is quite good in direct sunlight.
5. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Camera
Let’s talk about camera lenses now, there’s no major changes Google made this year. As you only get the newer design for the rear camera bar. Let’s check specifically down below:
Camera |
☑️ 48MP Wide, 10.5 Ultrawide, 10.8 Telephoto ; ☑️ 10MP (Cover Camera), 10MP front unfolded; ☑️ 4K recording for rear and front. |

For the main camera, you get a 48MP wide angle lens, which lets you capture great quality photos for daylight. There’s also a 10.8MP telephoto lens, provides up to 5x zooming capabilities, and it’s just the same as last year’s model. Hopefully Google will give you more zooming power for the future foldables.
There’s a slight changes in the 10.5MP ultrawide lens, as the level of area capture is increased. Now, instead of 121.1° viewing angle, you get the 127° field of viewing. Giving you wider area capturing capability compared to last year’s model.
Google’s AI editing capabilities makes you feel like a camera wizard sometimes, giving you access to edit photos in a snap. There’s the same old best take, photo unblur and other AI features. As for the new features, you get the “Add me” feature, which lets you add someone who is taking a photo and make a group photo.
There’s also “Auto Frame”, giving you the ability to fix over-cropped photos with advanced AI features. You can also use the magic editor to edit your photos and make a different scenario by using Gemini’s AI.
As for the front & cover camera, you get a 10MP camera for both of them and they give you great selfie shots thanks to HDR capability.
Videography with the Pixel 9 Pro fold is just fantastic, you get “Night Sight Video”, making your night time videos more brighter and crisp. There’s also “Audio Magic Eraser”, whenever you have extra unwanted audio around you, you can minimize the noise with this AI tool.
6. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Performance
Google literally blew you away with their updated chipset this year. Talking about the Tensor chipset and its amazing AI features. Here’s a quick look:
Performance |
☑️ Google Tensor G4; ☑️ Up to 16GB RAM & UP to 512GB Storage; ☑️ Stereo Speaker; ☑️ Wi-Fi 7 & BT v5.3 |

Starting off there’s the new chipset on-board with the Pixel 9 pro fold, giving you updated processing power. You get the latest Tensor G4 with 4 nanometer chip diameter. Processing power jumped quite high as well, providing you around 9% improvement with 3.1GHz max processing power.
One of the best security features from Google would probably be because of the Titan M2 chip, which is Google’s amazing anti-malware protection for safer browsing. Keeping your personal protection would be much easier and secure.
As for quick response time with your multitasking applications, there’s a 16GB ram for both the storage variants. Speaking of storage, you get only two options here, the 256GB and a 512GB higher one, and yes no 1TB option for you storage hungry people. So playing high end games like Fortnite or Call of Duty: Mobile or even Solo Leveling: Arise plays just smooth.
Media performance is great as well, you get all the amazing display and sound features, including Stereo speakers and even spatial audio is there as well for immersive sound experience while listening to music.
There’s also faster download and upload speed, thanks to Google for bumping up the Wi-Fi technology from last year’s Wi-Fi 6E to this year’s Wi-Fi 7 with the new Pixel 9 pro fold. So streaming tv-shows on netflix or even playing high-res battle royale games which requires faster download speed will have no issue.
7. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Software & UI
It’s no wonder which Os or UI Google devices will come with, of course you will get the possible features. Just to clarify, here are the details:
Software & UI |
☑️ Android 14; ☑️ Gemini Advance for 1 year; ☑️ 7 years of OS. |

Just like the other Pixel devices this year, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with latest and updated features from Google. Besides giving you the updated Android 14, you also get lots of new AI features with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
As before, you get quite minimalist Google’s features, widgets and icon shape or color changes. For new options, Google’s Gemini AI brings you most prime features. There’s “Pixel Studio”, which allows you to create AI images depending on your query. Another new useful feature is the “Pixel Screenshots” app, which gives you searching ability to your recent or old taken screenshots. I personally like this app because sometimes I see some useful products or news online I take screenshots and whenever I might need the info, it becomes a little hard to find the screenshot in the
Whoever gets the device for new, you will also have the Gemini Advance along, to keep you updated and stay productive. Just search whatever you need to find out and tell Gemini to do the magic. Useful few safety features of the Pixel’s come with, which are the Satellite SOS, Crisis Alerts, Car Crash Detection, emergency location service and few others to keep the journey safe with your Pixel.
As for updates, you get around 7 years of OS updates with Google’s latest features for each year. Giving you a longer time to use this phone safely and not thinking about changing so often.
8. Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Battery Life
You will be a bit surprised to know in this section, as Google gives you less battery compared to last year. Maybe due to the upgraded processor, Google thought it will do the job, but still who likes a downgrade in any feature, no one.
Battery |
☑️ 4650mAh Battery; ☑️ 45W Wired | Qi-Certified Wireless Charging |

Instead of last year’s 4821mAh battery, this year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with 4650mAh battery. Now this is exactly 171mAh less battery compared to the previous Pixel Fold. Making it around 3.5% decreased battery power compared to last year. Which is pretty awkward if you are a Pixel lover and expect this much less battery compared to last year while paying more this year.
The only reason for this battery minimization might be the upgraded chipset performance, as Google might have thought the device would deliver good power backup without the power increase.
Talking of Google’s confidence, they (Google) claims the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will give you up to 72 hours battery life with extreme battery saver. Which is good in minimum usage for day to day productivity application use. Although if you plan to play heavy games on this beasty machine or plan on watching 100 episodes of One Piece, then don’t expect to give it more than a day’s power.
Charging speed goes up to 45W as per Google, this is the maximum of fast charging speed. Which is good enough to give you around fifty percent power boost in just under 40 minutes of charging. Qi-charging support gives you wireless charging capability. Do remember there’s no charger in the box, just like last year. So you have to buy each fancy fast charger on your own.

Verdict
Finally, to speak from the heart, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold from Google brings you all the new changes with less compromises. Google bumped up the foldable market by entering aggressively last year, and this improved Pixel 9 Pro Fold is making news to compete head to head with Samsung’s Fold series like Galaxy Z Fold6, who is the market foldable leader right now.
One thing I personally appreciate is Google not upgrading the price while keeping the design change, new processor, updated display features exclusive for the new users. It’s a bold move from Google, which explains they want to impress the consumers.
Get the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, if
- You require a large & stunning entertainment display experience;
- You need the premium device from Google with all latest AI features;
- You want a unique foldable designed phone and amazing battery life.
