3. Samsung Galaxy M55: Design & Build
When it comes to design, Samsung made quite a few changes from last year’s Galaxy M54. Let’s take a close look at a glance down below:
Design |
☑️ Linear camera layout for the camera lens;☑️ Changed fingerprint scanner position;☑️ Gorgeous looking two color to choose. |
Let’s talk about the design elements of Samsung this year with the Galaxy M55. First of all, the device feels a bit premium, due to the much thinner design. As for the fingerprint position, it’s changed from side-mounted to under-display this year, which is a good thing as Samsung is at least trying to make changes.
Although other elements, like linear triple camera profile, button placements remained quite like last year’s model. The color naming for the blue variant is the same, though Samsung changed the overall color design, now the Dark Blue variant looks a bit like the Galaxy with sparkling stars on the rear end. Another new color Samsung introduced is the Light Green, which looks cool as well.
Build |
☑️ Slimmer profile with 7.8 millimeter thickness;☑️ Lightweight in-hand feel with 180 gram weight. |
The in-hand feel is quite comfortable, thanks to a much slimmer profile compared to last year’s Galaxy M54. Samsung shrunk around 6 millimeters, making the Galaxy M55 around 7.8mm thin. This is a very good reason the current Galaxy M55 looks so sleek at first glance.
Build quality is just like before, there’s no major change in materials like the rear is plastic and even the frame. Although one thing is odd, which is Samsung did not mention the front glass quality. Now, let’s talk about a good change, that is about the weight, the device feels lightweight due to its almost 19 grams lightweight change compared to last year’s Galaxy M54. As you get now the 180 gram option for the Galaxy M55.
4. Samsung Galaxy M55: Display
There are no major changes in terms of display features of the new Galaxy M55, except one. Which is the fingerprint scanner position. For your better understanding here are the display features at a glance down below:
Display |
☑️ 6.7-inch large viewing;☑️ Super AMOLED+ panel;☑️ 120Hz refresh rate;☑️ Under display fingerprint scanner. |
Viewing angle is Full HD on the 6.7-inch display, giving you resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. And due to similar display size like last year, you get the similar pixel per inch as well, which is 393 ppi. As for the display quality it’s Super AMOLED+ and comes with 120Hz smooth refresh rate for playing your high-fps games smoothly.
Thankfully, Samsung made one change, which is the fingerprint scanner position. Which was changed from side mounted to underneath the display. And yes, you guessed it right, it is optical and not ultrasonic like the flagship Samsung devices.
5. Samsung Galaxy M55: Camera
Camera lenses are just like before, no major changes are seen. Here’s a quick view in the camera qualities of the M55:
Camera |
☑️ 50MP Wide, 8MP Ultrawide, 2MP Macro;☑️ 4K Recording;☑️ 50MP Front Camera. |
Samsung actually kept the aperture similar like before, although they changed the megapixel from 108MP to 50MP. And we know this now, the megapixel doesn’t really represent the great quality photos, but the aperture and the lens quality itself. You get 50MP Wide lens, to capture great photos in daylight, 8MP ultrawide to capture those wider photos and a 2MP macro lens to capture those close-up objects photography you love.
As for the front camera, the 50MP selfie cam gives you pretty good selfies for daylight photos. Although the night time selfie photos are a bit soft, though it actually works.
Videography is just appreciated with 4K recording for the rear camera and at the same time 4K recording for the selfie camera as well. And thanks to Samsung for providing 4K for both the rear and front cam.
There are also a bunch of AI-enhanced features like “Image Clipper, Object Eraser”, which gives you quick editing power to be creative.
6. Samsung Galaxy M55: Performance
This year’s M55 gave you a new chipset on-board. Comes with the new Qualcomm chip with Octa-core processing power. Check more down below:
Platform | RAM & ROM |
☑️ Snapdragon 7 Gen 1;☑️ 8/12GB RAM & up to 256GB Storage ;☑️ Stereo Speaker. |
Now, the Snapdragon 7 gen 1 gives you around 2.4Ghz processing power. Which has the same speed as last year’s M54’s chip, the Exynos 1380. One good thing to notice is the newer Qualcomm chip is made with 4 nanometer architecture. Making it run your multiple applications more smoothly and efficiently due to the smaller chipset.
Playing games like Brawl Stars, Free-Fire in HD modes is smooth and intense in the large AMOLED panel. And you have the 120Hz refresh in the display, so playing games with high-fps feels smooth.
You also get up to 12GB ram and 256GB storage, giving you swift app load and store files effortlessly. There is also an expandable memory option, you can have up to 1 terabyte of memory card in the Galaxy M55. So no worries when you install high capacity games or whether you love taking 4K videos for your vlogs, as you can have a 1TB memory card installed to make these storage issues go away.
As for sound quality, there’s a stereo speaker available, so listening to music or watching movies on this machine will be great.
7. Samsung Galaxy M55: Software & UI
Besides the all new Samsung’s signature Ui, you also get AI features, security from Samsung and a few years of OS updates. Check detail down below:
Software & UI |
☑️ Android 14;☑️ One UI 6.1;☑️ Knox Security. |
Here comes the segment which users love talking about their Samsung, which is the software and unique UI of One UI 6.1 on board. Last year, Samsung gave you One UI 5.1 into the Galaxy M54, where this year, you not only get the updated Android 14, but also one of the latest One Ui features.
Now, with Android 14, most interfaces are changed with Samsung’s own theme and so on. You also get a few social media apps installed, which you can uninstall as well, so no worries about that.
With One UI 6.1, you get a “secure folder”, which lets you secure your apps or photos and documents with a passcode. There’s also image editing features like “Image clipper”, which lets you make stickers of an object or item and use it on other photos. “Edge panel” is another feature, which lets you access more applications easily by swiping right from the home screen. Make your voice clearer with the “voice focus” feature.
When it comes to securing your phone, Samsung’s well known Knox Vault is there, making all your data safer within your device and also keeping your Samsung Wallet or other online payment secure. Samsung gives you around 4 generations of OS upgrades, which is a good thing as a few years back most android phones gave you 3 years.
8. Samsung Galaxy M55: Battery Life
Let’s talk about the battery life now, which is similar like before but Samsung literally surprised you when it was released, as they brought faster charging speed for the latest Galaxy M55. Check the battery spec details about the Galaxy M55 down below:
Battery |
☑️ 5000mAh;☑️ 45W Wired. |
There’s a 5000mAh battery inside the Galaxy M55. Which is just like previous year’s Galaxy M54, no change in that. Giving you around a day’s battery without any worries, except if you do play high-intense graphics games like Pubg: Mobile or Cod: Mobile game, then you might have to charge the same day.
You will be glad to know that your Galaxy M55 now can charge super fast with the 45W charging speed. Giving you around 50% of battery in under 30 minutes of time. Which is literally surprising from Samsung, as they don’t include 45W charging unless you get a flagship “S” series device. So, it’s great to see Samsung is providing faster charging for mid-range devices.
