Moving on, let’s talk about the display features of both the contenders here. And there’s slight changes Samsung made this year with the A56. 

At first glance, you don’t notice anything, but when you take the ruler in hand, you will see the changes. As Samsung upgraded the screen size by just 0.1 inch, giving you 6.7-inch instead of last year’s 6.6-inch. With the A55 you had up to 1000 nits peak brightness, which was upgraded to a maximum of 1900 nits. For those who had issues viewing the phone in daylight, will face less hassle now.

Both devices came with Super AMOLED and 120Hz refresh rate, which is good for smoother operation. One downside of getting larger display is lowered PPI, you have to sacrifice something to get something here

Samsung Camera portion is a bit of a downer here people, nothing exclusive to talk here in the comparison. You literally get the similar lens and megapixels except the front facing camera. Shockingly, the front facing camera is now smaller than last year’s model from 32 MP to 16MP with the Galaxy A56.

Last year’s A55 had a triple camera lens with linear single camera cutout, giving you one 50Mp main, 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro lens to shoot those smaller objects. There was also 4K recording for both front and rear camera to give you perfect vlog videos.

In contrast, the new Galaxy A56, you get a similar triple camera like last year’s model and no changes at all. Photos looks sharp like last year’s model, but yes there’s a slight noticeable change in crispness, due to updated chipset performance Samsung is able to provide. Ultrawide and macro lens remained just like before with 12MP for ultrawide and 5MP for macro lens. 

Videography is just like before with the new Galaxy A56, there’s similar 4K recording. It’s getting a bit boring now with the same old feature, Samsung could have brought 8K recording for at least the rear-facing camera, hopefully Samsung will bring this in future Galaxy A-series devices.

Now that you are a little disappointed about the camera qualities, let’s give you a little relief by talking about the performance increase with the new A56. Coming up with the latest Exynos 1580 (4nm) processor instead of last year’s Exynos 1480.

Upgrade is not just seen in naming but in action too, as you get faster processing power with up to 2.9Ghz processing. Which is around 5.45 improvement from last year’s 2.75Ghz we found in the Exynos 1480 chip. 

There’s also an upgraded Xclipse 540 GPU inside with a boosted cooling system that ensures a smoother gaming experience for gamers out there. Decent FPS is noticed with games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Mobile. 

Storage and memory get a serious boost as well, ensuring the Galaxy A56 is good for a few years of usage. While the Galaxy A55 offered versatility with multiple RAM and storage configurations, the Galaxy A56 only gave you options to choose fixed storage instead of last year’s microSD slot support seen on Galaxy A55.

Connectivity and bluetooth have no changes from last year’s model, as you are still getting the same old Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 version. While it’s not bad, it would have been better if Samsung had at least given Wi-Fi 6E and updated bluetooth connectivity to compete against other similar price range smartphones in the market.

There’s few tiny changes you will notice with the upgraded One Ui 7 from last year’s One Ui 6.1 seen on Galaxy A55. 

Previous with the A55 you got the similar customization changes in both lock-screen and home page. There’s no major AI features but you still get few of them like, “circle to search, object eraser, and edit suggestions”. Which is not like flagship but still delivered good editing power. As for updating info, you get at least four years of android updates and five years of security updates from Samsung.

With the newly Galaxy A56, you are getting the One Ui 7 on top of Android 15. Lock screen has more info now with battery and network details. You also get to make your clock larger compared to last year’s model. As for AI features, you get more functions now, there’s filters, auto trim, best face for photos, AI select and read aloud to make you more productive with your tasks. Updates are greater too this year, now you get up to six years of OS and security updates.

Lastly, let’s talk about the battery life of the devices. And there is no major changes this year with the updated Galaxy A56. 

As for the previous model, you got a 5000mAh capacity which give you good enough power for the day. There’s also 25W fast charging support and no wireless charging. This much power was pretty reliable for at least 28 hours, if you happen to use the device in a minimalist manner and don’t go pressuring on it.

With the new year’s Galaxy A56, you are getting the same old capacity, but now due to upgraded chipset inside, you are getting at least 29 hours of video playback support. Those who love watching movies, will appreciate this slight upgrade in battery life. As of now, you are also getting the 45W fast charging supported, giving you the power to charge the device faster than last year’s model.
